All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

According to this article, dated March 15, 2012:
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/webnews/major-isps-turn-into-copyright-police-by-july-says-riaa/

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

    Fox news confirms this:

The only way is to hit them where it hurts. Their profit margins. March 2012 is the end of the First Quarter in economic reports world wide. Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy. Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine. Wait the four weeks to buy them in April: see a film later, etc... Holding out for just four weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media companies profits for the first quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments world wide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes. This action will give a statement of intent: "We will not tolerate the Media Industries' lobbying for legislation that will censor the internet."

Edited to add my own thoughts (not part of the original reddit call for action) And if you do not feel like taking a total break and perhaps want just a trial separation or couple's counseling, then perhaps consider Black March Lite 2.0 = spend, but spend money on those content creators and independent retailers who came out against SOPA/PIPA.  And tell them why you're buying their products in March.  There are many of them.

And for those who favor the more targeted boycott, you can find info  here.  But no matter which,  you can participate and you can tailor your level of participation.  We have the tools, the will and the strength to take a stand.

Anyone have a few bucks to spare?
A Supernatural Con friend ([info]strgazr04) is trying to raise $500 for Canine Companions for Independence:

I know Lauren and her doggie pal, Haines, from the NJ and Boston cons. Jared of course goes crazy for Haines :P But she's not a creepy psycho fan, so if anyone has a buck or two to throw at the cause, I'm sure any little bit helps. (She's a total Jensen girl, but alas, he hasn't made it to the Jersey con.. and she can't really travel.. as I tried to get her to come to Rome :P)

    my JIB poster.. :D

click pic for full version :)

had to scan it in 2 parts (obviously) as my scanner isn't nearly that large.

In case you can't read it, Ash is saying www.morethanbrothers.com (Rob did that one -- he asked for a "bad" site for fanfic. noone in the room could come up with one (or wanted to admit to it?), but I then remembered fangirl Becky's from that episode...

If I remember correctly (and it wasn't done in this order, but I can't remember the exact order):
    Jensen defaced Sebastian and Rob
    Rob defaced Chad
(I don't remember who did Richard -- probably Jason?)
Jared defaced Misha (I think -- not 100% sure)
Genevieve "defaced" Jared (booo I say! That's not defaced at all!)
    Sebastian defaced Jensen
    Richard defaced Mark (I think)
(I don't remember who did Jason)
    Jared defaced Steve (I think?)

I didn't have Steve's auograph, Mark refused to deface anyone (and I quote, "You should know by now I don't like doing what people ask me to.") and I didn't get Misha's cuz I did a trade with [info]camui_zuuki for an extra Jared :D I'll get Misha to really deface Jared in either NJ or Boston.

yep. And Sebastian was so proud of his work, he tweeted it.

    JiB2 photos!
Took me long enough to get them sorted, watermarked, and resized! But here's a link to my better photos from Jus in Bello 2011. I've mostly kept the ones I thought were decent, but if I thought someone would find the photo amusing at all I left it in :)

Watermarked after last year's ebay fiasco. If you'd like a couple for your own use or fan art or something, drop me a line and more likely than not I'll be OK with it.

There's photos from all the panels, Jason's concert, a couple from the cocktail party (including Sebastian's bum - as requested by my italian "husband" Silvia ^^), and several from Roman Holiday (including some without any of the actors)

    Enjoy!

    WARNING: EMO POST.
    Dear body,

I hate you. Most especially the amount of fat you cling to.

I stop drinking, I gain weight.

    I drink, I gain weight.

I eat healthy, I gain weight.

I give up, despair, and eat crap, I gain weight.

I don't have time to exercise, I gain weight.

I work out every day, I gain weight.

And no, it is absolutely NOT muscle. My clothes are tighter, not looser. My jeans fit well only after a few wearings, and not immediately after washing. Then they are uncomfortably tight. I put on my t shirts from woot and threadless and want to cry. All I see is my big fat gut hanging out. Even the nutritionist I visited said that I do everything right -- bordering on not eating enough. (no, I in absolutely no way skip meals or starve myself) I just fail. Because I am a big fat failure. Sometimes I just want to say FUCK IT and stop altogether. I've worried about When I'm not watching what I eat I tend to maintain my weight, so it can't get worse right? (note: i know this is not the case. it just always seems to be the outcome). I can't do anything extreme like the paleo diet -- because I know myself. That is a complete lifestyle change, and I know I will not stick with it.

I now weigh 30 lbs more than I did at my brother's wedding. That was in 2006. That is disgusting, as I've had no illness or injury to justify or excuse it. I'm a few pounds past my "wake up call" weight and can't get back below it.

I don't know what to do anymore.

    Current Mood: depressed
